Kagera region is the largest coffee producing region in Tanzania. The fertile soil and lower altitudes make it highly suitable for Robusta production. Robusta from Kagera is a medium-flavored Robusta with a medium strong body. Smallholder farmers in Kagera produce coffee organically, Lima Kwanza certified them with NOP & EU organic certification.

Lima is supporting the expansion of Robusta coffee production in Kagera through the establishment of a modern coffee curing facility with a processing capacity of 8 tons per hour. The facility has a strict minimum annual target of 1,200 tons of green Robusta coffee, including 600 tons of certified organic coffee. Our processing capability can accommodate volumes well beyond this conservative target as production continues to grow.
To ensure sustainable operations, the Kagera site will be fully powered by a 911 kVA solar power plant, scheduled for commissioning in July 2026. Covering 1.1 hectares of solar panels, this will be among the largest solar-powered agro-processing facilities in Tanzania.
